Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Dolapo Oshibajo as well as Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode are among other government delegates expected to speak at the annual lecture series organized by the Christian Conscience group, a non -governmental organization on issues bothering on corruption in Nigeria.
Former Minister of Education, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili and the Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr. Abdul-Hakeem Abdul-Lateef will jointly lead a panel of discussants drawn from the public and private sectors at the event.
The annual lecture which holds on November 23, at the Chapel of Christ The Light, in Lagos will be delivered by the Rt Revd Prof. Dapo Asaju, the Bishop Theologian, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion and Vice Chancellor, Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo.
The lecture with the theme: “Religion & Corruption: Strategic direction in fighting corruption in Nigeria” is expected to attract religious leaders, traditional rulers, students and other eminent personalities and members of the public.
According to the national chairman of the group, Chief Enock Ajiboso, “the topic was carefully chosen to sensitize Nigerians on the need to dissuade people from accumulating unnecessary wealth.
“The lust for ill gotten money must be condemned because it has eaten deep into the fabrics of the nation thus hindering our progress as a nation. Everybody, irrespective of gender, religion, tribe or profession must support the fight against corruption so that our children yet unborn will have an egalitarian society that everybody will be proud of”, he said.
