NRA to commence pre-season fitness test for referees Nov. 16

The Nigeria Referees Association (NRA) will on Nov. 16 commence the fitness test for all categories of referees ahead of the 2017/2018 football season, an official said on Wednesday.

Moroof Oluwa, the association’s Secretary-General, told newsmen  in Abuja that the exercise was in line with association’s responsibility of fair and excellent match officiating.

“FIFA-badged and Premier League referees and assessors are expected to participate, just as all Nation-Wide League One (NLO) and Nigeria National League (NNL) referees and assistants must be involved too,” he said.

The NRA official said the exercise was one of the efforts made annually by the association to improve officiating in the country.

“We will not relent in doing this, as the exercise will bring out fit and mentally-alert referees for the next season which is likely to begin in the first week of December,’’ he said.

Newsmen report that NRA, in collaboration with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), will hold the exercise which will end on Dec. 9 at the Abuja National Stadium.
