Hunters intercept suspected Boko Haram cattle rustlers, kill 1

ABUJA-HUNTERS engaged suspected Boko Haram cattle rustlers, Thursday, in Biu, Borno State, killing one in the process.

The Nigerian Army, which disclosed this, said the hunters had hunted the terrorists following recent security challenges posed by the terrorists in cattle rustling to raise funds for their criminal activities.

The hunters said to be from Gur village in Biu Local Government Area of the state, according to the Army in a statement through its Director of Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Usman, carried out the action in in conjunction with hunters from Damaturu at about 2:48pm on Thursday.

The were said to have intercepted the suspected Boko Haram terrorists cattle rustlers in the eastern axis of Burashika village of Biu council area.

“During the encounter that lasted several hours, the hunters killed one Boko Haram terrorist, recovered an AK-47 rifle mounted with magazine of two rounds and 48 cows, 58 goats, 36 sheep and 12 donkeys.

“All the recovered livestock have been handed over to the security operatives in Gur village pending identification by the rightful owners and handover, “the statement said.
