Awka—NATIONAL chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Oye said yesterday that the party would win more states in the country during the 2019 general elections following its excellent performance in Anambra State.
He told reporters that the party had already drawn a road map to achieve the feat, insisting that APGA remained the only party with a clear ideology in the country.
Dismissing the rumour that Governor Willie Obiano would dump APGA for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Oye said it was the figment of the imagination of some people who did not mean well for APGA.
“With what we have achieved in Anambra State, APGA will do well in the 2019 general elections in many states,” he said.
According to him, what helped APGA during the last governorship election was factionalism in other political parties, adding that the aggrieved members in those parties preferred to work for APGA.
He said further: “Some people had said that the election would mark the end of APGA and that we would pack our bags and baggage and disappear from the political scene. But all I simply told them is if God agrees.
“It was the contributions of the opposition that helped us to win because if they had not challenged us the way they did, probably we wouldn’t have put in much effort as we did.”
He, however, said that the party had never entertained fear of failure right from the day it set out for the race amidst threats and intimidation.
