African photographers unearth hidden facts on FESCTAC, Nigerian civil war

LAGOS—In helping Africans tell their stories without distortions, the annual LagosPhoto Festival organised by the African Artists’ Foundation, AAF, is set to unearth hidden facts about Africa.

The 2017 edition,  being the 8th in the series, with theme, ‘Regimes of Truth’ is designed to expound on pertinent ideas of constructed realities and the relevance of legitimacy in contemporary time through compelling works of participating artists.

It will commence on November 24th at the AAF headquarters, Victoria Island, as well as A Whitespace Lagos, Quintessence, Yaba College of Science and Technology etc and selected out door public spaces. It runs till December 15, 2017.

‘Regimes of Truth’ will more importantly, examine two major historical events; the Nigerian Civil War, with the declaration of the nation state of Biafra and the Second World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture otherwise known as FESTAC 77. These events continue to define the global visual representation of Africa and both, took place here in Nigeria.

The Festival’s curator and AAF Director, Mr Azu Nwagbogu hinted that this year’s festival promises to be an interesting one.
