Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, has revealed moves at securing the site for abandoned Delta State Polytechnic, Deghele-Elume, Sapele Local Government Area, for the establishment of the proposed Urhobo University.

UPU President- General, Olorogun Moses Taiga, said the proposed institution to be named Mukoro Mowoe University in honour of the late revered Urhobo leader, is projected to advance academic excellence and improve capacity for greatness among the Urhobo people.

The UPU, Vanguard learned, is keen on fast tracking realisation of the project and excited about the possibility of securing the abandoned Delta polytechnic site among other suitable sites for the proposed Mukoro Mowoe University.

Taiga, after a visit to the site said: “UPU will do all it can to convince the state government to handover the land so we can go ahead with establishing the university. The Mukoro Mowoe University will afford our people the opportunity to get higher education without the stress of struggling for admission outside the state.”
