Mr Babatunde Sofola, the Chairman, Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State, on Friday promised to rehabilitate all abandoned roads in the council area before the end of his tenure.

Sofola made the promise in an interview with newsmen, on the sidelines of the State House of Assembly Constituency stakeholders’ meeting at Mende Town Hall, Maryland.

He said that such roads include the Olabisi Street, Ojota, which had been abandoned for more than 35 years by the previous governments.

The chairman said the meeting was an opportunity for residents of the area to inform the government about their needs, adding that government would no longer impose projects on the electorate.

“Today is another day of planning and reasoning to achieve a common ground so that we can present to the government what we need more urgently.

“Silence is not golden in a forum like this, so let us do the needful,’’ he said.

Sofola appealed to the residents to support the government to do more, advising them to pay their taxes, protect government property and keep their environment clean.

Also, Mr Adebayo Osinowo, representing Kosofe 1 at the State House of Assembly, said that lawmakers in the state were bringing out legislation to enhance the living standard of Lagos residents.

Osinowo, represented by Mr Sanni Okanlawon, the Special Assistant to Gov. Akinwumi Ambode on Food Security, said that they had initiated legislation to check kidnapping, ritual killings, land grabbing, robbery and other crimes in the state.

“We have passed various resolutions that have changed the lives of people and the face of Lagos State.

“Some of the key areas being proposed for further amendment by the House are: State Police, Devolution of Power, Restructuring, amongst others,’’ he said.

Newsmen report that traditional rulers, community leaders, politicians, youth leaders, amongst others were present at the meeting.
