IYC to Okowa: Prevail on Warri North stakeholders to cede chairmanship to Ijaw

By Emma Amaize

ASABA- THE Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, faction led by Mr Eric Omare has appealed to the Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, to prevail on political stakeholders in Warri North Local Government Area of the state to concede the chairmanship of the area to the Ijaws of Egbema.

The group in a statement said its call was predicated on equity and fair play, as the Itsekiri ethnic group has singularly produced all the chairmen of the area since creation.

“We strongly believe that Governor Okowa as a product of equity based on political power rotation will do equity to the Ijaws of warrior north.

“We also call on Itsekiri leaders of Warri North such as former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan to intervene and make our Itsekiri brothers to see reason why there should be equity and fairness in Warri North.

“The Itsekiris must note that they cannot expect to have fairness in the affairs of Delta South senatorial district when they are not ready to be fair to their neighbours in the matters of Warri federal constituency,” IYC asserted.
