FOLLOWING the confession of a Boko Haram member in Ondo State, Mohammed Bashir, that members of the sect are scattered across the state, the State government has assured the people of adequate security of their lives and property.
Bashir, who said he doubled as an herdsman when there was no operation to carry out, came from Niger Republic with his younger brother still at large.
The 20- year-old Bashir had confessed to having killed two persons since joining the dreaded group eight months ago in Borno State.
Bashir, who spoke in Hausa confessed to being a follower of one Daffo, a loyalist of Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau.
In a move to douse tension generated by the confession, the Ondo State Government assured residents of the state saying security operatives are on top of the situation.
In a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Mr Yemi Olowolabi, the state government appealed to the people to go about their daily businesses without panic as the government is fully prepared to ensure that nothing tampers with security of the people.
Olowolabi maintained that the confession made by the arrested Boko Haram kingpin should not be a cause for alarm or panic.
