Wife of Cross River Governor, Dr Linda Ayade, has donated drugs worth millions of naira to the Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the state to promote effective healthcare delivery.
Ayade made the donation on Thursday in Calabar while inaugurating her health pet project “Mediatrix Development Foundation (MDF)’’ and the new office of the state Primary Healthcare Development Agency.
She said that the state government placed premium on health of citizens in the state, hence, the need to equip PHCs with adequate drugs and modern healthcare equipment for efficient service delivery.
Ayade said that the foundation was formed to channel health and development interventions to the vulnerable and the less privileged in the state.
“We are commissioning our MDF office today as part of the efforts to enhance healthcare service delivery in the state.
“We are also donating these drugs worth millions of naira to be distributed across the PHCs in the state,’’ she said.
Earlier, the Director-General of the state PHC, Dr Betta Edu, said that the agency came into existence due to Gov. Ben Ayade’s passion for the wellbeing of the people.
Edu said that recently, the Nigeria Governors Forum adjudged Cross River Primary Healthcare Development Agency as one of the best in the country.
She commended Gov. Ayade for making the healthcare sector to receive a boost under his administration.
Also, Dr Inyang Asibong, the State Commissioner for Health, lauded the state governor for being proactive in responding to health issues in the state.
