KATSINA—Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State and Police Commissioner, Besen Dapiya Gwana, yesterday vowed to fish out perpetrators of Saturday night’s attack on the residence of former Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Ahmadu Coomassie.
The governor in a statement by his Senior Special Adviser, Abdu Labaran Malumfashi, described the attack as dastardly, callous and cowardly.
He lamented that targeting a respected elder statesman who had served, and was still serving the nation with distinction, with criminal intentions could only be the product of evil minds, the kind that the society would be better off without.
He charged security agencies to spare no efforts in flushing out the perpetrators of this heinous crime and their sponsors, assuring that anybody found complicit in the crime would be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the law without regard to who they might be.
Similarly, Commissioner of Police, CP Besen Dapiya Gwana, said the state police command was determined to ensure arrest of the perpetrators and recover their operational arms.
He also identified police officer killed in the attack as Sgt Musa Ibrahim and the injured as Cpl Shitu Maikudi.
The commissioner in a statement issued by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Gambo Isah, said 18 empty shells of expended ammunition were recovered at the scene.
