Ahon’s father-in-law, Evang Omoriwhre, laid to rest amid tears, eulogies

THE remains of the father-in-law of Sir Festus Ahon of Vanguard Newspapers, Evang Lucky Omoriwhre, were, weekend, laid to rest at Oviri-Ogor, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State amid tears, eulogies and tributes.

He was interred in his Oviri-Ogor country home by the Bishop of the Ughelli Diocese, Rt. Rev. Cyril Odutemu at 11:35a.m.

Among those who graced the ceremony were the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori; the immediate past Secretary to the Delta State Government, SSG, Mr. Ovuozorie Macaulay; Chief Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, Olorogun Taleb Tebite, Chief Tony Oboroh, Chief Fred Majemite, Chief Solomon Ighrakpata, Olorogun Ebenezer Okorodudu, Olorogun Jaro Egbo.

Others are House of Assembly members representing Ughelli North II, Ughelli South, Uvwie, Prince Eric Oharisi, Hon Reuben Izeze, Chief Efe Ofobruku, respectively; Delta State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, Mr. Titus Okotie; Delta State Coordinator of National Youths Service Corps, NYSC, Mr Aoyodele Omotade; Edo State Assistant Director, Deployment and Relocation, NYSC, Mr. T. M Olu; Mike Ogwa; Business Manager, Vanguard Newspapers, Asaba Plant, Mr. Frank Okotie; and Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Vanguard Newspapers Chapel, Mr. Solomon Nwoke.

The event was also attended by over 150 journalists practising in Delta State, led by the State Council Chairman of the NUJ, Mr. Mike Ikeogwu. The Ughelli Council of Knights, led by Sir Vincent Orhiunu, was also at the event equally graced by captains of industries.

Governor of Performing Musicians of Nigeria, PMAN in Delta State, Quincy Tebite, was among the musicians that played at the ceremony where the Anglican Adams Preaching Society, AAPS, composed a song in honour of the departed Evang Lucky Omoriwhre.

Sermon

Earlier in a sermon, the Bishop of Ughelli Diocese, Rt. Rev. Cyril Odutemu, held that there was no forgiveness after death, adding that Evang Lucky Omoriwhre served God faithfully till his last day on earth, expressing optimism that he was resting in the bosom of God.

While consoling the family, he urged them to follow the path of their patriarch, Evang Lucky Omoriwhre by serving God faithfully.
