ABA- Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Inter Party Advisory Committee, IPAC, in Abia State, has said it is determined to partner with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to ensure free, fair and credible polls in the state.
Chief Emeka Okafor, who was re-elected chairman of the group, stated that IPAC had set up structures among political parties to ensure free, fair and credible polls at all levels in the state in 2019, to ensure that the will of the electorate prevails
Okafor Okafor who is the State chairman of the Progressive Peoples’ Alliance, PPA, disclosed that IPAC has concluded plans to organize a forum where political office holders at all levels in the state would be made to render account of their stewardship to the people, adding that the forum will include the governor, National and State Assembly members from the state as well as other political office holders.
He explained that IPAC has continued to sensitize the electorate to hold political office holders accountable; stressing that the era of winner takes it all is over.
The IPAC boss assured that the body would partner with the political stakeholders across the 17 council areas of the state to organize the forum to ensure that representatives deliver democracy dividends to the people.
“We will partner with political stakeholders to organization a forum where our representatives will render account of the two years they have so far spent in office. They will brief us on what they have done for their constituencies.
It is about making Abia State better .In as much as we voted for them; they should make Abia to enjoy the dividends of democracy and good governance. It will no longer be business as usual or the winner takes it all system. IPAC is not an opposition group, but we stands for good governance.”
Others who emerged in the election supervised by INEC include; Chikezie Gilbert -ID (Deputy chairman) Hon. Augustine Anyaegbu –APC (Secretary), John Ukpo –UDP (Asst. Secretary), Ogbonnaya Uma –Accord (Financial Secretary), Felix Ogbonna- PDP (Treasurer) an David Kalu –GPN (Publicity Secretary).
