Youths urged to embrace science, technology early

NIGERIANS have been urged to prioritise the study of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, STEM, for pupils in order to have an impeccable academic backgroun. This was stated in Lagos when pupils of Carol School, Lagos paid a visit to the office of Huawei Technologies.

Speaking at the event which held at Huawei Innovation and Experience Centre, Mrs. Okorodion Juliet, who led the pupils, said it was important for the nation to promote and embrace STEM.

She said: “STEM as a tool will not just excite the children to learn, it will also make them to be eager to learn difficult things in an entertaining mood. They will be proud later in the future in any field they found themselves because the culture has been imbibed in them very early in life. The importance of STEM cannot be waived aside by any nation that wants to grow, mostly in this age where ICT has made many jobs easier and has also allowed income earners to earn more with less stress.”

Also speaking, the Product Manager, Huawei Technology, Mr. Oluwaseun Ologun, said the hosting of the students was in line with the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR.
