The police in Ondo State on Wednesday arraigned two men, Funsho Ajala, 23, and Bayonle Menukuro, 25 in an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court over alleged felony and wandering.
The defendants, of no fixed addresses and occupations, are standing trial on a two-count charge of wandering and felony.
The prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that Ajala and Menukuro were caught on Aug. 29 around 12.30 a.m. at Boluwole Street in Ayeka, Okitipupa.
He said the two were caught wandering near peoples’ residences with intention to commit felony.
Orogbemi added that both men were unable to give satisfactory account of where they were coming from or going at that time.
The prosecutor noted that the offences were contrary and punishable under sections 250 (6) and 516 Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State 2006.
However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them and the Magistrate, Mr Banji Ayeomoni, granted them bail in the sum of N30,00 each with one surety each in like sum.
He added that the sureties must present evidence of one year tax clearance and adjourned hearing on the matter until Oct. 4.
