The Federal College of Education (FCE), Zaria on Saturday, won the maiden edition of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) Male Football Completion after defeating FCE Kano by a lone goal.
Newsmen report that the competition which lasted for one week was held at FCE Zaria football pitch.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the competition, the NCCE Executive Secretary, Prof. Bappa Aliyu-Muhammadu, said the event was meant to foster unity among Nigerian Colleges of Education.
Represented by the Director, Finance and Supply, Mr Janah Obasi, Aliyu-Muhammadu said the competition was targeted at promoting unity, synergy, friendship and cultural exchange among the colleges.
He thanked the participating colleges for their patience, resilience, discipline and understanding which had paved way for the success of the competition.
Dr Ango Ladan, Provost of the Federal College of Education, Zaria, said the completion served as a uniting factor among colleges of education across the country.
He advised the organisers to capture women in the second edition of the game to give them a sense of belonging.
While describing the completion as a hitch-free one, Ladan also said the game was fairly and keenly contested by ten colleges.
According to him, the event had not only promoted the image of the commission but also created a forum for interaction and association.
Ladan appreciated NCCE for giving his college the opportunity to host the maiden edition of the competition.
