LOKOJA—Kogi State government has said it is targeting 10,000 beneficiaries with loan facilities from the Federal Government Entrepreneur Empowerment Programmme, GEEP, popularly referred as MarketMoni, before the end of the year.
The state focal person for the social investment programmes, Mr. Adoga Ibrahim, stated this yesterday in Lokoja during an appraisal forum with heads of cooperatives and journalists.
Ibrahim said out of the 30,000 forms filled by intending beneficiaries, loans had been disbursed to 1,700 persons, while the process to credit 6,000 other intending beneficiaries within the next three weeks is ongoing.
He said the state government had also put in place a template to commence its own GEEP as soon as the Federal Government’s programme comes to an end
He said: “Our target is to affect one million entrepreneurs across the state. We are looking at how to develop a vibrant cooperative society.
“So far, N85,000,000 has been disbursed, but as soon as the process for the other 6,000 forms is completed, the state, through the programme, will have disbursed N385 million.”
