Ekiti 2018: Dep gov waves olive branch to PDP aspirants

Prof-Kolapo-Olusola

By Rotimi Ojomoyela
Ado-Ekiti—Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Prof Kolapo Olusola has called on governorship aspirants in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State to focus their minds on how to ensure victory for the party in the 2018 governorship election rather than being bothered by his adoption as the preferred aspirant by the party stakeholders.

Prof-Kolapo-Olusola

Speaking in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, Olusola said; “Since my adoption is still subject to the conduct of primary election in accordance with the constitution of the PDP, there should be no cause for alarm.”

The deputy governor, who declared that all members of the PDP in the State have right to aspire to be the party’s flag-bearer, added that “his adoption has not excluded anyone.”

He called on members of the party, especially the aspirants to desist from utterances that could paint the PDP in bad light, saying, “We should not turn quest for the PDP governorship ticket to an avenue for maligning one another because we remain one family.

“We should love one another and there should be no reason to fight ourselves. My adoption notwithstanding, others still have right to aspire and the good thing is that no one has been excluded from participating in the primary.

“Even from the word preferred, it means others are not excluded and imposition does not arise at all,” the deputy governor said.

Olusola described his adoption as divine, pointing out that; “My emergence as deputy governor was the work of God just as my adoption by our party’s stakeholders and I will continue to keep my faith in God and our leader, Governor Ayodele Fayose.”

PDP concerned group rejects adoption

Meantime, a group, Concerned Group within the PDP in Ekiti state has rejected the support given  the deputy governor , saying those described as Ekiti Elders do not have the mandate to speak on behalf of Ekiti elders

We read with bemusement the publication credited to an amorphous group claiming to be elders of our party , the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State supposedly.

“The supposedly elders led by Chief Paul Alabi, ingloriously working in tandem with the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose in an effort at giving credence to the illegal adoption of Prof Olusola Eleka, the current Deputy to Governor Fayose as the”preferred” candidate of our party for the 2018 governorship election.

In a statement signed by Signed  Gbenga Babawibe, Dr Seun Adebayo, conveners of Concerned Ekiti PDP members , they said, “We would have preferred to ignore the provocative publication because it was nothing but mischief taken too far, we, however, feel a rejoinder will suffice to enlighten the innocent members of the public that the statement was meant to deceive.

“Much as we accept Chief Paul Alabi, who signed the statement as one of our leaders in the Ekiti State chapter of the PDP, we say it loudly that he does not have any legal or assumed authority to speak on behalf of the elders of the party,” the group said.
