Amb. Ahmed Musa Ibeto arrived South Africa early today (Wednesday) to assume duty as Nigeria`s new High Commissioner to that country.
Ibeto was a former Deputy Governor of Niger State, 2007 to 2015, former member, House of Representatives, 2003.
He was also Senior Special Assistant on Protocol Matters to the governor of Niger State from 1999 to 2003.
The new high commissioner, accompanied by his wife, Mrs Saratu Ahmed Ibeto, was received on arrival at the Oliver International airport, Johannesburg, by Nigeria`s Consul General in South Africa, Amb. Godwin Adama.
Other officials at the airport were Mr Zacharia Ifu, a minister in the high commission, Commodore Lassa, Defence Attache at the high commission, Mr N. A Nze, a minister in charge of the economy at the high commission, Mr Ibrahim Nayaya, head of Chancery at the consulate.
Members of the Nigerian community led by their President, Mr Adetola Olubajo, were also at the airport to welcome the new High commissioner. .
Adama later told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the mission was happy to welcome the high commissioner to South Africa.
“ His arrival is a welcome development. The mission will carry out bilateral engagements at the highest political level with the South African government.
“ As a seasoned administrator, Amb. Ibeto will do the country proud in his new assignment,” he said.
