Nigeria Shooting Federation president, Brig. General Lonsdale Oladeji Adeoye has pledged support for the Nigeria modern Pentathlon Federation in its bid to successfully host the forthcoming Youth Olympic Games qualifier and the African Senior Pentathlon Championship, holding in Lagos from December 4-11, 2017.
Brig. General Oladeji Adeoye made the pledge during a meeting with the President of the Nigeria Modern Pentathlon Federation, Chief Jonathan Nnaji (JP) in his Lagos Office.
Excited on the hosting rights given Nigeria by Modern Pentathlon Union, Adeoye stressed that Nigeria’s choice to host such a global championship was not in any way by accident and commended the NigeriaModern Pentathlon for accepting to host the twin event, a development he said will not only put Nigeria on the world map but will also serve as a gateway for Nigeria to host more world class events. “I’m full of excitement that we are hosting this qualifier, and by the time we execute this successfully, Nigeria would constantly be considered to host more of such championships”, he said.
He added that hosting and hosting well will further boost the image of this great country since available record shows that this is the first time Nigeria and indeed Africa is hosting the Modern Pentathlon Youth Olympic Games qualifiers as well as the senior African Championship side by side.
To this end, Adeoye called for all hands to be on deck in order to ensure that Nigeria succeeds in this task. “This is why Shooting Federation is already in the forefront drumming support for the successful hosting of the championship”, he said.
He equally appealed to the leadership of the other Federations like, Athletics, Fencing and Polo whose sports make up the Modern Pentathlon to rally round the Nigeria Modern Pentathlon body for the successful delivery of the week-long championship
