THE Nigeria Football Supporters Club have launched a campaign with the slogan “Taming the Lions” as one of its strategies aimed at ensuring the Super Eagles defeat the invading Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers in Uyo and Limbe Cameroon coming up in September.
Speaking on the club’s plan for the double header, President General of the Supporters Club, Dr Rafiu Ladipo said, “we are ready for the games between the Super Eagles and the Indomitable Lions and to garner enough support for the Eagles, we are beginning with this campaign, ‘Taming the Lions’.
“All that is required of us as Nigerians is to work hard and ensure the Super Eagles defeat Cameroon in Uyo and in Cameroon.”
The PG, as Ladipo is fondly called, said members of the club are already on a three-day-per-week fasting. “We are fasting because we also need that element of luck for our teams to win matches. I have seen a situation where a team dominates a game and still loses. That is where prayer comes in.”
Ladipo said the club will embark on a nation-wide sensitisation on “Operation Tame the Lions” as it would not leave any stone unturned towards Super Eagles qualification for both the 2018 World Cup and AFCON 2019.
