The council official was alleged to have connived with some officials of Yobe State Pilgrims Welfare Board to perpetrate the crime.

No fewer than 41 intending pilgrims are currently stranded at the premises of the commission, with their luggage littering everywhere.

Confirming the arrest of the council officials, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Jafiya Zakariya, disclosed that the hajj fare collector connived with the council official to perpetrate the crime, rendering intending pilgrims stranded.

When Vanguard visited the hajj commission yesterday, one of the pilgrims, Yusuf Abubakar, invoked the wrath of Allah on the perpetrators.

The Permanent Secretary of the commission, Alhaji Bukar Kime, was not available for comment, while other staff declined to speak on the issue.
