PDP CRISIS: Kasamu-led S’West leaders accuse Fayose of causing division

They are people of evil conscience – Fayose

By Dapo Akinrefon

FACTIONAL leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the South West, have insisted that Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe, remains the party’s authentic chairman in the zone even as they accused Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State of fanning the embers of discord within the party in the region.

While they dissociated themselves from the meeting called in Ibadan, Oyo state, earlier in the week, the leaders maintained that the executives, who emerged at the zonal congress held on October 11, 2014 remain the validly elected and judicially sanctioned leadership of the party in the zone.

The factional leaders of the party from Lagos, Ogun, Ekiti, Oyo, Ondo and Osun States, met in Lagos yesterday, after an emergency meeting of South West PDP zonal leadership and stake holders was held in Ibadan on Monday.

Those present at yesterday’s  meeting include the lawmaker representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Senator Buruji Kashamu; former deputy governor of Ekiti State, Mr Abiodun Aluko; former PDP National Secretary, Prof Wale Oladipo; Mr Tunde Carenna, Alhaji Fatai Adeyanju, Mr Segun Adewale, Mr Wahab Owokoniran, Chief  Gbenga Otegbolu, Chief Kolapo Ogunjobi, Mr Hakeem Taiwo and Mr Adekola Razak.

Reading the communique issued at the end of the meeting, Chief Ogundipe restated he remains the chairman of the party in the zone saying those parading themselves as executives of the party in the region are impostors.

Ogundipe, berated Governor Fayose’s alleged hostile, authoritarian and destabilizing activities and demanded that he be called to order before he sounds the death knell on the party in the South West.

They’re of evil conscience – Fayose

But reacting, Fayose through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka  dismissed the comments by those parading themselves as PDP leaders in the Southwest, saying; “Governor Fayose will not waste his time on people whose faces are abhorred in the gathering of people of good conscience.’’

Olayinka said:  “Governor Fayose is more concerned with rebuilding the PDP and it is sure that the PDP house will not be reconstructed with termites infested woods.”

He described those gathered by Senator Buruji Kashamu in his hotel in Lagos yesterday, as pseudo-PDP members, saying; “Methinks Senator Kashamu and his men should rather face their Mega Party of Nigeria, MPN.

“As at today, Senator Buruji’s Omo Ilu Foundation’s office in Ado Ekiti is now the State Secretariat of MPN and all his men have openly declared for the party. Or is MPN no longer Mega again?”
