THE Chairman of Idemili North Local Government Transition Committee in Anambra state, Chief Raphael Asha Nnabuife, has reaffirmed that election must hold in the state as scheduled on November 18, this year, despite insinuations by some pro-Biafran groups that it would not hold.
He, therefore, urged every member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in the local government in particular and the state, in general, to come out en masse to cast their votes for the incumbent Governor Willie Obiano during the election to enable him to get a land slide victory for his second tenure.
Addressing 50 APGA members from Nkpor Ward I who had just decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP during their solidarity visit in his office at the council secretariat, Ogidi, on Wednesday, Nnabuife urged voters in the state not to boycott the election as demanded by the pro-Biafra groups because the consequences would act like an ill wind that blows no good to anybody.
Flanked by the member representing Idemili North Constituency at the state House of Assembly, Hon. Tochukwu Mmegbuanaeze, Nnabuife declared:
“We should not thwart the democratic system existing in the state. We should not listen to anybody who says that election will not hold because election must hold which will be for our benefit. If the election fails to hold, the tendency is that the federal government will declare a state of emergency in Anambra and consequently appoint a military administrator to govern the state for some time”.
He subsequently distributed wrappers designed with APGA logo and Obiano’s head to some of the defectors and urged them to settle down for work at once as soon as they get back to their ward, adding that their decision to join APGA has reduced the campaign stress in the area and paved the way for APGA to cruise into victory at the polls, even as he assured them that they would be definitely carried along in all the party’s activities in the area.
Earlier, the leader of the group and former Councillorship candidate of PDP, Mr. Obioma Arinze Molokwu had explained that they decided to defect from PDP to APGA due to the laudable developmental projects embarked upon by Obiano in the state.
