In working towards the actualization of a clean and green environment, the executive chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Hon. Oladele Oshinowo has hailed the governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode for his foresight in addressing environmental issues.
He made this remark at the flag-off of the ‘ Cleaner Lagos Initiative’ in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA held at the council secretariat.
The scheme which was commissioned by the governor in June is designed to achieve a clean, hygienic and flood-free state.
Speaking at the program, the chairman described the initiative of the governor as a catalyst to ensure a cleaner Lagos, alluding that the state needs a proper framework to address environmental issues.
Meanwhile, to support the efforts of the state government, the chairman launched ‘ Operation Fresh’ to address the peculiar blockage of drainage channels in the LCDA.
He disclosed that the team in charge will be saddled with the sole responsibility of monitoring drainage channels in the local council.
He however appealed to residents to shun cart pushing, informing them that the activities of cart pushers are majorly the reason why most areas are witnessing perennial flooding.
