ASABA—MRS Maria Banibe Okoh, has emerged the first female and 33rd President of the Rotary Club of Effurun, District 9141 for the 2017/18 rotary year.
Speaking during her investiture, Okoh reiterated the determination of the club to increase its contributions to Rotary Foundation and Polio-Plus.
She listed the plans of the club for the 2017/2018 Rotary year to include the provision of desks, teachers’ tables and chairs to Esedo Primary School, Effurun, vocational training in various professions.
Other areas that will be given attention under her watch, include de-worming of school pupils in chosen schools, provision of delivery kits to indigent pregnant women, provision of school uniforms for impecunious students, among others.
Okoh said, “Our strength as Rotary Club lies in the diversity of our membership and we must endeavour to increase,” adding that the club will partner the state government in the training of youths in skills acquisition.”
“As the first female President of district 9141 for the 33 years of its existence, we will do our best to inspire, change, improve and seek opportunities for service to increase recognition of our club both in Rotary, our community and the world at large,” she said.
Earlier in his remarks, the out-gone President, Dele Aisekhalaye urged members to support the newly installed President, enjoining them to sustain the gains of the last Rotary year.
