BENIN—IMMEDIATE past deputy governor of Edo State, Dr Pius Odubu, has said that he remains resolute and committed to the ideals of All Progressives Congress, APC, despite the challenges in his political career.
Odubu, who spoke at the celebration of his 60th birthday in Benin City, urged his supporters to remain strong and focused, just as he expressed gratitude to his family for the support they have rendered to him as a politician.
The well attended ceremony was graced by both leaders of the APC and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State including serving and former lawmakers, traditional rulers and market women.
Addressing the crowd, Odubu who came second in the governorship primaries of the APC which threw up the incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki, said “I have spent 60 years of a journey blessed by God. If you have been to Urhomehe (his village), you will know how God has blessed me.
“I thank God for what he has done for me in the last 60 years but I also know that as great as those things have been, they are just stepping stones to greater things to come.”
I have taken my family through a lot of hassles, when you have a child that is into politics, at the level that we are in, you know you are going to trouble your family.
“You stood by me through thick and thin, no wonder we have made a success of our chosen careers. Politics comes with several things and that is why we must all remain strong. For my supporters, I will always be there for you, we must all remain strong and we know that God will always be there for us,” he stated.
