COMMISSIONER for Insurance, Alhaji Mohammed Kari, has appealed to the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun for    review of the Financial System Strategy 2020 (FSS2020) to ease doing business in the country.

Kari also tasked the Minister to challenge the setting up of the Financial Services Regulatory Coordinating Committee.

Speaking in Abuja, at the 2017 International Insurance Consultative Council, IICC, conference with the theme: “Nigeria Open for Business”, Kari insisted that there was the need to revisit the FSS2020 if the country was to actualise the ease of doing business agenda.

He stated: “The Minister should challenge the Financial Services Regulatory Coordinating Committee (FSRCC) and to revisit the Financial System Strategy 2020 (FSS 2020) within a given time to come up with a proposal on the future of financial regulation in Nigeria.

“If the dream to make Nigeria easy for business is to be realized, then the way financial regulation is constituted in Nigeria need an urgent review.”
