A delegate to the 2014 National Conference and Yoruba leader, Bashorun Seinde Arogbofa, has alleged that the Federal Government was sponsoring groups to discredit the report of the Conference. He spoke ahead of the launch of his 18th book entitled, “Nigeria: The Path We Refused to Take”, slated for Tuesday in Akure.
Arogbofa, who is the Secretary General of the Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, said the continuous attacks of the report of the Conference “showed the imprimatur of the Federal Government in trying to discredit the conference”.
The author, whose latest book is the third direct conversation with Nigerians on what has gone wrong, where we missed the road and what needed to be done to get back on the right track, said those criticising the report do not even known its contents. “The suggestions in the 2014 National Conference report which would have taken Nigeria out of the crisis it found itself was on the verge of being dumped because of the activities of groups akin to that of the defunct ABN”, he said.
“Nigerians should call these groups to order. Many of them do not know what is in the report. They should not be made to rubbish the over 600 resolutions taken without voting at the confab. The Federal Government is encouraging the groups to frustrate the confab report”.
