PORT HAR-COURT—A pro-All Progressives Congress, APC, group in Rivers State, M30, has called on leaders of the party to stop bickering over who should contest what office in the 2019 election but to focus on empowerment programmes for indigent party members.

President-General of the group, Ambassador Anosike Orduwa, who spoke yesterday in Port Harcourt, noted that it was unfair for some leaders of the party to be more concerned about candidates of the party for 2019 election, when many youths and women in the party were looking for means of survival after the last elections.
He said that the appropriate thing for leaders of the party to do ahead of the general election in 2019 was to roll out empowerment programmes for youths and women that stood firmly by the party during the last elections.
“The party leaders should concentrate on empowering the youths and women. This is not the time to talk of who should contest for which office in 2019. We will resist imposition of candidates,” he said.
He enjoined the party leaders to ensure primaries were conducted for candidates to emerge for various positions in the 2019 election, stressing that this way the party will go into all the elections with a united front.
