APC chieftain challenges politicians, says ‘don’t turn youths to drug addicts’

A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Katsina State, Alhaji Mustapha Danda, has challenged politicians saying they should desist from turning youths into drug addicts and miscreants.

He challenged them to rather run viable youth empowerment schemes, to ease unemployment problems in the country.

Danda said in an interview with newsmen on Wednesday in Malumfashi that public office holders must also encourage entrepreneurship and self reliance among the youths.

The APC chieftain stressed that good and responsible politicians strive to bring development to their people and not turn their children into drug addicts and miscreants.

He advised the youth to take their destiny in their hands by identifying and focusing on life changing goals that would turn them into self reliant and responsible citizens.

Danda said youths, as future leaders, must be mentored and encouraged to blossom into responsible, upright and transparent citizens.

He commended Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina state for promoting skills acquisition programmes that had taken the youths off the street and armed them with knowledge and skills to be economically independent.

According to him, the provision of interest-free loans and other interventions by the state government had also helped to reposition the youths to contribute more meaningfully to national development.
