Adamawa Gov scraps, sacks varsity governing board, management

…names Education commissioner acting Vice Chancellor

Adamawa State Governor, Wednesday, dissolved the governing council and management of the state University and named the commissioner for Education, Prof Keletapwa George Farauta, as the Acting Vice Chancellor with immediate effect.

The decisions were announced by the commissioner for Information, Ahmed Sajoh, in a statement released to Vanguard last night.

Sajoh said the decision was arrived at the weekly Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Muhammad Umar Jibrilla, acting on the report of a visitation panel, which looked into the activities of the university.

The statement indicated that a new governing board and management would be named in the shortest possible time for the institution.

The governor mandated the acting vice chancellor to take urgent steps to restore sanity and stability to the university.

The governor also moved the state water resources commissioner, Julius Kadala, to the education ministry and Rufai Ahmed Abubakar of the Ministry of Science and Technology to the water resources ministry.

The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Abdulrahaman Jimena, who was the pioneer commissioner in the Ministry of Higher Education, has been mandated by the governor to oversee the ministry until further notice.
