Three Policemen attached to Isheri Oshun Division of the Lagos State Police Command are to face Orderly Room Trial, following the escape of two robbery suspects from the cell, weekend.
The suspects, who were arrested by residents of the area for stealing, were handed over to the Police for prosecution.
However, it was gathered that the following day, the roof of the cell was discovered to have been destroyed, from where the suspects escaped.
A visibly angry Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Camelius Emodi, a Superintendent of Police, quickly staged a manhunt for the suspect, during which they were reportedly re-arrested.
However, the policemen on duty that night were immediately arrested and kept in custody.
At press time yesterday, Vanguard gathered that an Orderly Room Trial had been constituted at Area ‘M’ Idimu, where they would be tried.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Olarinde Famous-Cole, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, who confirmed the incident, said: “There was no case of armed robbery in Isheri Oshun. But a case of stealing was reported and the case has now been charged to court.
“The policemen involved in the incident have all been defaulted and they will be disciplined departmentally.”
