After three days of activities at the on-going Sixth Delta Sports Festival, three local government areas, Ukwuani, Aniocha-South and Ethiope-West are occupying the top of the medals table.

The festival ends tomorrow with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa expected to perform the closing ceremony at Ozoro Polytechnic Stadium.

Ukwuani Local Government Area tops with 10 gold, five silver and three bronze medals, while Aniocha-South has won nine gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals. Ethiope-West has six gold, two silver and five bronze medals.

Warri South with five gold, one silver and eight bronze, Burutu in the fifth position with four gold, seven silver and five bronze, just as Ughelli North is sixth with three gold, four silver and two bronze medals. Oshimili North has three gold, three silver and four bronze, just as Aniocha North has three gold, two silver and two bronze, while Ika North East two gold, four silver and six bronze medals.

Meanwhile, Ebele Agbha from Ika North East won three gold medals in the women’s 48kg, while Ukamaka Dominic won three gold medals in the 63kg. Adaobi Onyia won three gold medals for Aniocha South. The weightlifting event is taking place at Asaba Stadium.

In athletics event holding at Ozoro Polytechnic Stadium, Ineh Neyiwa from Warri South, who wrote his name in gold, winning the men’s triple jump on day two of the competition, yesterday added the long jump gold medal with a leap of 7.13 meters.
