Having recorded outstanding success from last year edition, the Youth Enterprise Conference 2017 organised by Nairabet founder, Akin Alabi held yesterday at the Eko Hotels and Suites. This year’s event tagged ‘Small business, big money’ featured speakers like IrokoTV founder – Jason Njoku, CEO of Alphareach – Japhet Omojuwa, creator, Jenifa’s Diary – Funke Akindele, Pheelz the producer among others.

Speaking about the event, Akin Alabi who was also one of the speakers said “This is an annual conference where I invite some of the most successful young business people to tell Nigerian youths how they started their businesses and also teach them how they can do the same. We live in a country where despite how much skills you have, you are faced with a lot of disadvantages. But despite these odds, these seven people survived and achieved their goals.”

Continuing, he added: “I started my business in 2003 with just N3,500 creating and selling information products like Ebooks, CDs, audio tapes and manuals. From there, I proceeded to launching a seminar and training company specializing in teaching and consulting for other young people starting their own small businesses. I later tried my hands (and failed) in publishing. I then tried my hands successfully on other businesses with the most popular being Nigeria’s first sports betting website,” Highlights of the day included the launching of Akin Alabi‘s new book, ‘Small Business, Big Money’. The Akin Alabi foundation also supported 50 attendees of this year’s Youth Enterprise Conference on their journey to success by providing them with N100,000 each.

This money is to be specifically invested into their business ideas.

The Youth Enterprise Conference is an initiative of Mr. Akin Alabi. The 2016 edition tagged “The Internet Entrepreneur” had in attendance the likes of Jason Njoku, Tiwa Savage, Opeyemi Awoyemi of Jobberman and Mr. Akin Alabi himself.
