Mosquito net

RESIDENTS of Ikorodu, Oshodi-Isolo, Abule Egba, Bariga and Akowonjo areas of Lagos State have benefited from free distribution of Long Lasting Insecticide Treated Nets, LLIN carried out by Ikeja Electric, as part of activities to mark World Malaria day.
According to the Head Corporate Communications, Ikeja Electric, Mr. Felix Ofulue , malaria has a devastating socio-economic impact in the country and all efforts must be intensified by the government and corporate organizations to eradicate the disease.
“To this end, we are committed to sensitising the communities on the prevention and treatment of the infectious disease caused by the malaria parasite.
Demonstration
Ofulue who demonstrated how to hang the nets noted that its benefits are enormous for the family and society at large.
“Nets save mothers, children and pregnant women from malaria and related ailments. Also reduce the number of times families need to visit hospital and help to save cost of treatment.”
He noted that once the country is able to reduce its malaria burden, the productivity level will also increase, “and prosperity of our people will increase, that will contribute to the development of our country,” he explained.
Ofulue hinted that the company as embarked on series of healthcare missions to promote healthy living among Lagosians, “Supporting healthy living is part of our commitment. Not long ago, we carried out free eye screening and distribution of glasses. On Childrens’ Day we went to some hospitals and orphanages to donate relief materials and our determination is to do more.”
A beneficiary in Abule Egba, Idowu Habibat, lamented the bad drainage in the environment but said effort would ensure free flow of water, while the nets would protect residents against mosquitos.
