UYO—Akwa Ibom State residents have commended the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, for the ongoing infrastructural development in the state, especially the rehabilitation of internal roads in the capital city, Uyo.

They noted that majority of the roads hitherto impassable are now functional giving the people a new lease of life.

Motor spare parts dealer on Nsentip Street, Mr Essien Essien, was full of praises for the Federal Government’s for establishing the NDDC, saying that, over the past 16 years, internal roads in the state had been in pitiable condition and thanked God for the commission which is rehabilitating them.

According to him, “In the past 16 years, roads like Nsentip, Udo Eduok, Nsasak and Brown streets among others had been in terrible condition. If you had known them, they were difficult for people to pass even by foot.

“Go to Ukana Offot, Udo Ette, Enwe, Akpan Essien and Atim Atakpo streets, you will realize that they all are tarred, we give thanks to God. But we are calling on NDDC to extend same gesture to other areas, in order to make life comfortable.”

Another respondent, Mr Chidozie Anajose, who operates Keke-Napep business said, “I was surprised that, even Nsentip Street that nobody could pass for so many years is now functional.

“I thank the Federal Government and the NDDC for doing a good job. The only problem is lack of electricity but, we are believing that, government would do something about it.”
