THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ekiti State has described the renewed efforts by the Minister of Solid Minerals and former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi to remove Governor Ayodele Fayose from office through alleged judicial manipulations as an effort in futility.
This came as a factional chairman of the PDP in Lagos State, Mr. Segun Adewale has distanced himself from the plot to unseat governor Fayose.
Ekiti factional State Chairman of the party, Gboyega Oguntuase, said Governor Fayose’s election was ordained by God and validated by the people of Ekiti state, as reflected in the overwhelming support he received during the June 21, 2014 governorship election.
Oguntuase said no amount of surreptitious plots would subvert the will of the electorate who freely gave Fayose victory in the election in the 16 councils, with Fayemi as an incumbent governor.
Addressing newsmen, yesterday in Ado Ekiti, Oguntuase said the people will resist every “attempt being allegedly contrived by Fayemi to rule Ekiti through the back-door.”
He said: “We are not threatened by this move because we see it as ungodly and a suicide mission.
I am not involved—Adewale
Meanwhile, Mr Adewale denied claims of his involvement to unseat Governor Fayose describing it as false. In statement, Adewale said: “My attention has been brought to a spurious claim in a fainted online publication (not Vanguard), purporting that I, Otunba Segun Adewale, is plotting to unseat the governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, in order to install former governor, Kayode Fayemi, by bribing Supreme Court judges with N150 million.”
Fayose, had on Monday raised the alarm over subterranean moves allegedly being made by Fayemi, in cahoots with two newly appointed Supreme Court Justices to remove him from office.
However, Fayemi had said he won’t dignify his successor with a response, saying “such allegation is no longer new to me.”
