BENIN—DEPUTY governor of Edo State, Mr Philip Shaibu, has been commended for the projects he sited in his Etsako federal constituency during his 19 months stint in the House of Representatives.
He received the commendations yesterday, during the commissioning of constituency projects he executed as lawmaker.
Shaibu represented Etsako federal constituency before he ran alongside the incumbent governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki, in the September 28, 2016 governorship election in the state.
The projects include a block of three classrooms each at Eshiebor Primary School, Ofukpo Village in Ekperi, Etsako Central Local Government; Uchi Primary School, Auchi, Etsako West; Esivue Primary School, Ubiane and Igbuku Primary School, Amah. They were inaugurated in fulfillment of his electioneering promises to the people of the three local governments that make up Etsako federal constituency.
Giving the commendation, the House of Assembly member representing Etsako Central, Demian Lawani said he was overwhelmed by the manner Shaibu hastened completion of the projects, describing him as a selfless leader. He said with the project sited in the once forgotten village, Shaibu has given his people a sense of belonging and ultimately made the job easier for him in the next election.
Shaibu who thanked the people for their cooperation, ascribed the success of the All Progressives Congress, APC Redroof revolution to the immediate past governor of the state, Mr Adams Oshiomhole, adding that the schools being commissioned were part of the efforts being made to consolidate on the gains of the Oshiomhole’s legacies.
