Lagos—An online car hire service driver, Ikechukwu Mobosi, who was alleged to have stolen his passenger’s mobile phone valued at N235,000, was yesterday charged before an Igbosere magistrate’s court in Lagos.
Mobosi, 32, is standing trial on a count charge of stealing. He, however, pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate B. A. Sonuga admitted him to N200,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
He said that the sureties must be gainfully employed, their addresses verified and adjourned the case till May 15 for mention.
The police prosecutor, Corporal Friday Mameh, had informed the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on February 28, at 8:10p.m., at 16, Agodogba Parkview Estate, Ikoyi.
He said that the defendant, who was in charge of a Corolla car with number plates SMK 124 EJ, stole a gold-coloured Samsung Galaxy S6 phone, valued at N235,000, belonging to the complainant, Mrs Fatima Eshotune.
Mameh told the court that the defendant was an online car hire service driver.
