ASABA—THE people of Ovu in Ethiope East Local Government Area, Delta State, yesterday, decried the continued blackout in the area, calling on Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC, to as a matter of urgency, restore power supply to the community.

The people, under the aegies of Agbon Graduates Forum, in a communique  at the end of their meeting, commended one of their sons, Chief Peter Esievo, for donating N10 million to facilitate the restoration of power to the area.

In the communiqué by the chairman, Mr Patrick Esi and Secretary, Mr Michael Kevwe, the people lamented that the area had been in blackout for over a year, adding that the power outage was affecting the socio-economic lives of the people.

Stressing the need for urgent steps to be taken by all major stakeholders to address the situation before it completely cripples business activities  in the area, the group urged Chief Esievo to use his position to influence the management of BEDC to immediately restore electricity supply to the area.

“We also urge the king of Agbon, Chairman of Ethiope East council and other stakeholders to take the issue seriously so that power supply can be restored to the area within the shortest possible time,” they added.
