Christians call on leaders to have fear of God

Christian faithful in Gombe have called on leaders to have the fear of God, to move the nation forward.

Rev. Isa Uba, Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Gombe made the call in Gombe on Monday during the Easter inter denominational prayer.

“It is only the fear of God that our leaders will take the right decisions that can move the country to greater heights,” he said.

He stressed the need for unity and peaceful co existence of all, adding that God had a purpose for bringing the people together as one nation.

“I am calling on the Christians to take advantage of the season, make it right with God as well as imbibe the lesson of Easter,” he said.

He also urged the Christians to be law abiding citizens by recognising constituted authorities.

In his speech, the  Governor of the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Dankwambo, urged the Christians to be their brother’s keepers, according to biblical instruction.

The governor was represented at the occasion by Mr Hassan Ahmadu, Commissioner for Rural Development.

Mr Abdu Maisheru, the Paramount ruler of Tangale and Chairman, Christian Northern Traditional rulers, called for unity in Nigeria.

He also urged the Christian communities in the state to pray for the sustainability of peace in the North-East region and the country at large.
