PORT HAR-COURT— SENATE Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has urged Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State to ignore political detractors, describing him as an outstanding performing governor in the country.
Senator Akpabio, who spoke yesterday, after inspecting projects with Governor Wike, said that the governor had outshone the Federal Government in the area of project delivery to Nigerians.
He said: “Do not be distracted by unnecessary blackmail against your person by political detractors. I want to urge all governors who have the opportunity to lead their states to visit Rivers State.”
He said that recession should not be an excuse for any government to fail to deliver on campaign promises, stressing that government should strive to deliver dividends of democracy within the limits of their resources.
“Performance is not necessarily an issue of the availability of resources. If your state gets N5 billion, execute projects of that amount. If you get N1 billion, execute projects commensurate with that figure. For Governor Wike, he has judiciously applied the scarce resources available to the state to develop needed infrastructure.
“The resources available to Rivers State are nothing compared to those of the Federal Government. Rivers State Government gets less than one percent of what accrues to the Federal Government, but we can see the tremendous quality of transformation taking place in the state,” he added
