BENIN—A former governorship aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State, Mr. Blessing Agbonmehre, has denied claims that he had been suspended from the party by its Etsako Central local chapter of the party.
Agbonmhere, who was reacting to the suspension claim, said that the story of his suspension from the patty was very far from the truth as he remained a bonafide member of the party.
He said that his purported suspension by his local government wing of the party, was a pre-arranged matter allegedly masterminded by a former governor of the state a former member of the House of Representatives who were being propelled to do so because of his rising profile.
He said: “The purported suspension placed on me by my local government chapter is the handiwork of a former governor in the state and a former House of Representatives member. Both of them are witchhunting me because they are noticing that I am rising like a colossus and also knowing that nobody can wave me aside in the scheme of things. I have contributed immensely to the growth of the party in the state.”
Let them tell the world what they have contributed to the success of the party so far.
“One thing is sure, they are no longer the leaders of the APC in Edo State. The mantle has since fallen on Godwin Obaseki, the governor of the state. Is that not enough to warn them to thread with care? They should know that the era where their authorities’ loom larger than life across the state are fast gone. We are now in a new era.
“My purported suspension was teleguided just to ‘cut me to size’. But it will not stand. I still remain a strong member of the party, working for its progress.”
He said that on a daily basis, he gets support through phone calls from the party faithful, who also express shock at the premeditated plot against him masterminded by his detractors.
