Sixty two participants who successfully completed the ExxonMobil Triathlon Holiday Clinic were awarded certificates at the event, which came to an end at the Teslim Balogun Stadium at the weekend.
The three-day clinic had over 120 participants in attendance, but were pruned to the 62 who were successful at the training. According to the Technical Director of the Nigeria Triathlon Union (NTU), Yinka Badare, the 62 participants were taken through the basics of the sport, swimming, biking and running.
Badare said some were adjudged to be good in different aspects of the sports like aquathlon (swimming and running), duathlon, while some competed in the triathlon event. The technical director also assured that the outstanding participants would be nurtured to become top triathletes.
“What we have done with the clinic is to identify talents, which had students in attendance. The NTU will ensure that talents discovered will be developed to become top triathletes. It also means that we have a pool from which we can pick athletes,” Badare stated.
