A MEMBER of the Osun House of Assembly representing Obokun State constituency, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, was last week honoured by the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, as the best lawmaker in the South-West for the year 2016.
Oyintiloye, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Information and Strategy was honoured alongside the Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun among others. The award which was presented to him by the Secretary to the Osun State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, on behalf of the corporation was in recognition of his active role in community development and media friendliness. Receiving the honour, Oyintiloye challenged governments at all levels and citizens to pay more attention to the development of rural communities for which he was being honoured. Identifying the gaps in the area of mentoring, capacity building, provision of support services to the vulnerable and marginalized groups, youth development and infrastructure development, he said to tackle those challenges, community service must be embraced.
Describing the award as inspiring, the lawmaker said, it has re-energized him to continue in the community service of his people, Obokun state Constituency, Osun State and Nigeria. He commended the FRCN for acknowledging good works, promoting diligence, merit, and rewarding it accordingly, he said, Nigerians should be bold to celebrate her own, as this is one of the tools to reset values and fight corruption.
The zonal director of the corporation, Alhaji Mohammed Bello said, the awardees were selected based on merit, saying believed in rewarding merit. He said, the awardees have made impacts in the various callings and deserved to be honoured.
