By Simon Ebegbulem

BENIN—LEADERS of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ugbegun, Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State,  have engaged their traditional ruler, His Royal Highness Samuel Obade II, in a war of words after they accused the royal father of alleged victimization and intimidation of APC members in the community.

A leader of the party in the community, Mathew Emiohe, who addressed newsmen, alleged that the traditional ruler stormed his residence with a view to forcefully demolishing a perimeter fence which he claimed was responsible for the alleged felling of an ancestral tree worshipped by the community.

But reacting,  the Onojie denied knowledge of any petition against him, describing the allegation as unfounded and a figment of the imagination of the APC leaders.

He said: “I have not seen the petition you are talking about. The reaction will be too negative because I have not seen it on paper. I hope you are satisfied with my response.”

APC leaders in Eguare -Ugbegun had in a petition addressed to Governor Godwin Obaseki by Prince Tom Anuge, Mr Mathew Emiohe, Mr Monday Osagie and Mr Famous Ogbekhilu alleged victimization and intimidation of APC members in the community by the royal father whom they alleged is a Peoples Democratic Party  member.
