lagos—Four days after the former military governor of defunct Western Region, Major General Adeyinka Adebayo died, eminent Nigerians have continued to visit his home at Ladipo Bateye Street, Ikeja, to pay condolence to his family members
Among dignitaries who visited the Adebayo family over the death of the and President of Yoruba Council of Elders, YCE, yesterday were: Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Ondo State governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu and former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations, Chief Emeka Anyaoku.
The dignitaries in their separate visits described the General’s death as a great loss to the country.
Saraki told newsmen that “General was great Nigerian; very patriotic and served our country well both as an officer and as an elder statesman. He worked for the unity and stability of the country. He will be greatly missed.”
Nigeria has lost a titan
Governor Akeredolu in his own tribute said: “He was a great man who fought for the peace of the country and held Yoruba nation together when he was governor of Western Region. He has done his own best and we will continue to remember him. He was a true and honest leader.”
He was a patriotic Nigerian — Anyaoku
In his condolence message, Anyaoku described the late Adebayo as a patriotic Nigeria who served the country diligently.
