12th Lagos Motor Fair & 6th Auto Parts Expo: Litmus test for Nigeria’s auto industry

THE beauty of trade   shows is that they take organisations beyond their supposed dreams and into the expected ground of realities. This they do by taking participants to higher levels by consistently keeping them (the exhibitors) in the minds of their target audience.

The Chairman, organising committee and the MD, BKG Exhibitions, Mr. Ifeanyi Agwu, brought this to the fore while briefing journalists in Lagos on the forthcoming 12th Lagos Motor Fair and 6th Autoparts Expo Africa.

In what has become an Auto Mundial and show of strength among the indigenous and foreign firms in the automotive business, more firms are confirming their participation in the events. Many indigenous firms have confirmed their participation, while over 80 foreign firms from every part of the world are storming the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island venue of the event with different world-class products and services from their stables.

Mr. Agwu revealed that a large number of the major brands of automobiles, spare parts, accessories, lubricants, banking, insurance, regulatory and policy-making agencies and bodies are taking part.

Capabilities and potentials

He said: “Though the sector is passing through turbulent times in the country, the persistence of major players in participating in this event is attributable to the importance they attach to it as a key event for demonstrating and showcasing capabilities and potentials.

We cannot but attribute their consistency to the strategic importance attached to it by all the stakeholders in the industry, who have been hardworking and making sacrifices here and then. It has been a collective effort and all hands have continually been on deck, starting from the private sector to the various agencies of government both at the state and federal levels.”

He added that all the major brands available in Nigeria and to some extent, abroad will be showcased, urging every stakeholder to endeavour to show up at the event billed to take place from April 24 to 29; which he said will be a unique and veritable opportunity for all to show the strength and ruggedness of the players in the sector, the policy inconsistencies notwithstanding.

“From the automobiles, lubricants, auto parts, accessories to security gadgets and allied sectors are all coming to rub shoulders, with different mouthwatering offers for the

visitors, customers and prospective target audience. So, in this case, the over 10,000 expected visitors will definitely be treated as the king, which they are, by these exhibitors as they jostle for a rewarding business lead, friendship, partnership and increased sales.”

From the Financial sector, auto financing and acquisition of facilities and schemes shall be on display at the various stands of the firms from the sector. Those interested in enjoying the synergy existing between the automobile industry and the insurance sector will get the best and latest from reputable insurance companies at the fair arena. Some of the automobile dealers will showcase their own in-house finance/ acquisition  schemes.
