BENIN CITY—THE Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has commenced a state wide monitoring of schools across the three senatorial districts of the state.
The team led by the interim Chairman of the Board, Mallam Sulayman Ali, visited Imaguero Primary school, Igbesanwa, Ogboe, Izevbigie and Oghodua primary schools all in Benin City.
Addressing the teachers, Mallam Ali admonished the teachers to put in more efforts in teaching the pupils by ensuring early resumption in school, warning that the administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki will not tolerate insolence in the primary school system.
“This administration holds education in a high esteem and the primary education is the basis and that is why we must have serious minded teachers at that level so that our pupils will learn a lot at that tender age. We are going round now and any teacher found wanting in the discharge of he or her duties will be sacked so they can create chance for serious and dedicated people.”
He further charged the teachers to collaborate with School Based Management Committees in order to check the incident of vandalism in public schools, adding that “we must all protect this beautiful edifice that the state government built for learning.”
